Celebrate National Bike Month with May Events at Allegany State Park
From full moon rides to trail adventures and beginner clinics, Allegany State Park is rolling into May with bike events for all ages.
SALAMANCA - Allegany State Park is celebrating National Bike Month with a number of events throughout the month of May. Promoted by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month has been celebrated in May across the U.S. since 1956. It encourages people to ride bicycles and enjoy the outdoors on two wheels. Bike Month celebrates and promotes biking as a means of sustainable transportation, for building community, for exercise, health, and for fun.
May 1: Full Moon Fun Ride from 7:30-9:00pm. Participants will join Allegany State Park educators for a fun ride of 5-7 miles around the Red House area bike path. All ages and bikes are welcome. Please no scooter bikes or training wheels. Helmets are required for all, bring a bike light, water, and a sense of adventure as we ride under the first full moon of May. Meet at Camp Allegany.
May 21: Bike Night on the Pat McGee trail from 6:00-8:00pm. Check out this multi-use trail with Allegany State Park educators. Bikes with wider tires such as mountain bikes or gravel bikes are recommended as this trail is not paved. Helmets are required. Bring water, a snack, and repair tools for this 6-8-mile ride. Park at Ellicottville Brewing Company in Little Valley, NY.
On May 27, join Allegany State Parks’ own certified mountain bike instructors for a FREE Mountain Bike Clinic. Bikes and helmets are provided, however registration is required as supplies are limited. Riders must be at least 5-feet tall to participate. Call or text your height to 716-265-8366. Meet at Camp Allegany at 6:00pm.
