A FALL EXCLUSIVE: THE KINZUA SKYWALK RETURNS

When it comes to witnessing the dramatic explosion of fall foliage, there is simply no vantage point quite like the legendary Kinzua Skywalk. Ranked proudly as Tripadvisor’s #1 State Park in Pennsylvania and internationally celebrated as one of the 10 most beautiful skywalks in the world, this marvel of engineering is a bucket-list destination.

Originally constructed in 1882, the Kinzua Viaduct was once the highest and longest railroad viaduct on the globe, heralded as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." For over a century, it stood as a testament to industrial innovation before being partially dismantled by the devastating force of a powerful tornado in 2003. However, rather than letting the history fade, the remaining massive steel towers were brilliantly reinvented into a world-class pedestrian walkway.

The Skywalk - which is currently undergoing an extensive, careful preservation project to ensure it stands safely for generations to come - is officially opening its gates for a very special, limited-time window. The Skywalk will be open to foot traffic exclusively from September 1 through October 31, 2026!

This is your rare, fleeting opportunity to walk 624 feet out into the heart of the stunning Kinzua Gorge. When you reach the end of the historic tracks, you can peer directly down through the partial glass floor, suspended a dizzying 225 feet in the air, right as the surrounding hardwood forest erupts into its world-famous autumn colors. Before or after your walk across the sky, be sure to stop into the Kinzua Bridge State Park Visitor Center, which will be open daily from 8:00am-6:00pm. Traveler’s Note: Due to recent storm damage to the footbridge, the hiking trail located directly beneath the Skywalk will remain closed during this fall window.
