Ellicottville Rotary Chili Cook-Off Returns September 26
Local cooks will compete for chili cook-off bragging rights while guests enjoy unlimited tastings, live music, raffles and a silent auction supporting Rotary community projects.
ELLICOTTVILLE - Local cooks will bring their best recipes and secret spice blends to the upstairs at Madigan’s on Saturday, September 26, 2026 for the third annual Rotary Club of Ellicottville Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser.
The event will take place from 4:00-7:00pm and will offer an evening of chili tasting, live music, and community fundraising. Proceeds will support the Rotary Club’s efforts to fund regional civic projects, including youth leadership programs, educational scholarships, local mental health resources, and community beautification initiatives.
The Rotary Club is inviting backyard cooks, home chefs, and professional culinary teams to compete for chili cook-off bragging rights. Participation is limited to 25 contestants, with registration available for $25. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place, as determined by a panel of judges. Contestants will also compete for the coveted People’s Choice Award, selected by event attendees.
Each contestant must bring their best chili creation in an 8-quart or larger crockpot, along with any toppings or condiments they feel will make their dish stand out. Participants will have the opportunity to share the story behind their creation on a provided tent card. Registration includes a tasting ticket, allowing contestants to sample the competition while enjoying an evening of friendly rivalry and supporting local fundraising efforts.
Cornbread from Ellicottville Bake Shop, extension cords, 4-ounce tasting cups, plastic spoons, and napkins will be provided.
Chili tasting tickets are $10 if you pre-purchase online, or $15 at the door, with each ticket including unlimited chili samples and a vote toward the People’s Choice Award. Discounted tickets are available exclusively online through Sept. 19.
The evening will feature live music by local musician, Tom Dietrick, along with several opportunities to support the Rotary Club’s community initiatives. Guests can participate in a 50/50 drawing, browse a themed basket raffle featuring donations from local businesses, and bid in a silent online auction offering local goods and unique experiences. The Rotary Club’s online silent auction features a variety of items, handcrafted treasures and experiences, making it a great opportunity to shop for yourself, find a special gift, or plan a memorable getaway. Auction highlights include a Cutco Studio +4 Knife Set with Block featuring knives manufactured in Olean; a one-night, two-day midweek ski or golf package for two at the Inn at Holiday Valley; and an eight-hour pontoon rental from Holiday Harbor Marina in Celoron.
Golf enthusiasts can bid on an 18-hole foursome, including carts, at Springville Country Club. Other offerings include a handcrafted ash bench or coffee table created by Mike Weishan, showcasing the natural beauty of ash wood, and an overnight stay at the Wingate by Wyndham in Ellicottville.
