The ranking celebrates Holiday Valley’s blend of exceptional on-mountain operations and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of its hometown, Ellicottville, which creates a ski and snowboard experience that appeals to families, friends, and winter enthusiasts of every ability level.

Holiday Valley earned Top 5 rankings in snow quality, lifts, guest service, parking, and family-friendliness, while also claiming #1 rankings in lodging, dining, and nightlife, and #2 in après-ski. The results reflect both the resort’s commitment to continuous improvement and the vibrant small-town energy that defines Ellicottville.
“There are a number of things that help guide Holiday Valley’s success and our investment in the resort’s infrastructure, and the charm and character of Ellicottville are certainly high on that list,” said Holiday Valley’s President and General Manager, Dennis Eshbaugh. “We are proud that we can continually enhance our snowmaking, grooming, and lift systems to deliver an exceptional on-mountain experience, while the village provides everything guests need to unwind, connect, and enjoy themselves off the slopes.”
With 60 slopes and trails, 13 lifts, and the potential for lake effect snowstorms, Holiday Valley is celebrated for its snow reliability and efficient mountain layout. Constant reinvestment in snowmaking and lift technology ensures optimal conditions throughout the season, while the resort’s dedication to guest experience - from lessons and family amenities to après-ski and lodging - makes it a top destination for both locals and visitors across the Northeast and beyond. As one reader commented, “They continually pump money into it. The lifts are extraordinary, and the grooming is impeccable.”
Ellicottville itself plays a defining role in Holiday Valley’s appeal. The walkable village, filled with locally owned restaurants, shops, and welcoming nightlife, earned Holiday Valley top marks for lodging, dining, and après-ski, affirming what readers have long said: the town and mountain together create an experience greater than the sum of their parts.
