Total Senior Care Chair Volleyball Team Spikes Their Way to Victory

Participants of Total Senior Care’s PACE and DayBreak programs rally for wellness and camaraderie

OLEAN - Energy, laughter, and a healthy dose of competition filled the air at Total Senior Care as a newly formed team of spirited participants took to the court - well, the chairs - to compete in a friendly game of chair volleyball. What began as a simple recreational activity quickly grew into a full-fledged event that brought participants, staff, and even family members together in a celebration of wellness, camaraderie, and fun.

The participants, all members of Total Senior Care’s PACE and DayBreak program, came together to recruit teammates, design t-shirts, devise game strategies, and most importantly - get their game faces on. With high energy and even higher spirits, the Total Senior Care team took on Eden Heights and earned a two-game sweep, proudly retaining the program's traveling trophy.

“Everyone had a blast,” said Carmen Wright, Activities Coordinator at Total Senior Care. “Watching our participants not only compete but also truly enjoy the moment - with smiles, teamwork, and spirit - was the best part.”

The DayBreak and activities program at Total Senior Care is designed to help participants maintain their independence, keep their minds and bodies active, and ultimately remain in their homes as long as possible. Activities like chair volleyball are a crucial part of supporting quality of life for those enrolled in the program.

“The sense of community and joy that came from this event was incredible,” said Roxanne Padlo, Executive Program Director. “It’s exactly what our program is about - enhancing lives with purpose, wellness, and meaningful connection.”

The excitement didn’t stop with the win over Eden Heights. The next day, participants faced off against Total Senior Care staff in a closely contested three-set match. While the staff narrowly pulled off the victory, the participants led for much of the game and played with impressive heart and determination.

More games are already on the calendar, including a highly anticipated match against Leadership Cattaraugus in May and a rematch with the staff. For now, the trophy stays put - and so do the smiles.
