The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce once again transforms the village into a sparkling winter wonderland filled with lights, music, family fun, and festive traditions Thanksgiving weekend.
ELLICOTTVILLE - Thanksgiving weekend marks the start of the holiday season, and nowhere embraces the spirit quite like Ellicottville. From November 28–30th, the village will once again transform into a sparkling winter wonderland as the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce presents Christmas in Ellicottville, a cherished annual celebration full of classic holiday charm, family traditions, and merry-making in the heart of one of Western New York’s most picturesque small towns.
Visitors can stroll the walkable four-block village center, where twinkling lights line the streets, local boutiques welcome holiday shoppers, and restaurants roll out their seasonal menus perfect for settling in after a day of festivities. Whether you’re here to start your gift shopping, spend time with family, or simply soak in the magic of the season, this weekend is designed to delight all ages.
The celebration officially begins Friday evening, November 28th with the annual Village Lighting Ceremony and illumination of the beloved Ski Tree outside the Ellicottville Post Office. The moment the lights flicker on has become a signature holiday tradition - a collective countdown that brings together locals, visitors, and longtime Ellicottville holiday weekenders.
Throughout the weekend, families will find a full schedule of free holiday activities, thanks to the support of community sponsors. Highlights include:
Visits and photos with Santa
Fire truck rides with Santa
Live reindeer in the village
Horse & wagon rides through town
Kids’ crafts and cookie decorating
Face painting and interactive activities
Hot cocoa decorating
Breakfast with Santa
This year’s Breakfast with Santa events will also include donation collections for the local food pantry, encouraging families to give back while enjoying the festivities. In addition, the Chamber will launch a new holiday fundraiser supporting families in need throughout the season - a reminder that the magic of Christmas shines brightest when shared with the community.
“Christmas in Ellicottville is all about joy, tradition, and togetherness,” said Barb Pump, Executive Director of the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce. “It’s a weekend where families can slow down, enjoy the moment, and create memories that last well beyond the holidays.”
Can’t make it Thanksgiving weekend? The holiday cheer continues all December long in Ellicottville, with special events, festive storefronts, and plenty of opportunities to shop, dine, relax, and play in the snow.
