Ellicottville Distillery Launches Limited 8-Year Bourbon with Holiday Release Party

Aged eight years and crafted grain-to-glass, the newest bourbon release pairs perfectly with live music and holiday shopping weekend in Ellicottville.

Planning a fun holiday shopping weekend and in need of a break? Looking for a great local gift for the bourbon-lovers on your list? Interested in trying something new? Ellicottville Distillery invites you to their 8-year Bourbon Release Party this Saturday, December 13th beginning at noon! Check out this limited release and enjoy live music throughout the day at the distillery, located at 5462 Robbins Road in Ellicottville.

Ellicottville Distillery’s 8-year bourbon is a must-try, and owner and head distiller Bryan Scharf is looking forward to the launch. He noted that this bourbon’s distinctive flavors include “oak, smokey, vanillas, caramel” and a “smooth, rich finish.” An American sub-category of whiskey, bourbons are made in the U.S. from at least 51% corn and aged in new charred oak. Ellicottville Distillery’s 8-year bourbon is right in that sweet spot of age and flavor, and Saturday is the time to grab your bottle before they’re gone!

Bourbon has been made in the U.S. for over 250 years, and at Ellicottville Distillery, Scharf still uses traditional practices of distilling with locally sourced ingredients. “We grow our own grains,” he noted. “Grain to spirit to glass is done in-house.” The distillery’s tasting room offers many spirits and hand-crafted cocktails to try. For those in a festive mood or looking for a gift idea, Scharf said, “Maple Bourbon Crème is very popular for holiday cocktails and gifts. It’s good for an eggnog substitute.” This liqueur is sweetened with syrup locally sourced from western NY maple trees - an iconic regional flavor!

While you’re enjoying a taste of Ellicottville Distillery’s 8-year bourbon and other holiday drinks on Saturday, enjoy live music from Porcelain Train. An acoustic folk and Americana duo hailing from Buffalo, Porcelain Train includes Tamala Fonda on acoustic guitar and vocals and Ralph Fonda on drums and percussion. They’ll be playing live on Saturday from 3:00-6:00pm.
