Ellicottville Christmas Stroll Returns December 13 with Parades, Carols & Living Nativity

Ellicottville’s beloved holiday tradition invites the community to slow down, celebrate together, and rediscover the true meaning of Christmas.

Ellicottville’s beloved Christmas Stroll returns on Saturday, December 13th, inviting residents and visitors to pause the holiday hustle and reconnect with the warmth and meaning of the season. This longtime tradition transforms the village into a charming celebration of community, faith, and festive fun.

“Christmas in Ellicottville is really something special,” said event organizer Gwen Bush. “It’s a chance to slow down, enjoy the village, and remember what this season is truly about.”

Throughout the afternoon, the village will be alive with music and merriment. Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church will again feature its stunning Nativity scene filled with angels and traditional figures. Carolers and costumed characters will stroll the sidewalks, and horse-drawn carriage rides - along with an appearance by the Wisemen and their real camel companion - will add a whimsical touch to the day.

The celebration begins at 4:00pm when the elves make their entrance and begin spreading cheer with treats for the children. At 4:30pm, one of Ellicottville’s most feel-good traditions takes center stage: the Reindog Parade. Local pups, decked out in everything from cozy holiday sweaters to jingling accessories, will march with their owners to the gazebo.

Barb Pump, Executive Director of the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, said the parade consistently draws a crowd. “Seeing the dogs dressed up and parading down Washington Street brings an energy that people look forward to every year,” she said. “It’s always a highlight.”

Participants should gather at the post office parking lot by 4:15pm. No registration is required, and anyone with a friendly, well-behaved pet is encouraged to join.

NEW THIS YEAR: Immediately following the Reindog Parade, the first-ever Holiday Character Parade will make its debut. Community members are encouraged to dress as their favorite festive personality - whether it’s Frosty, the Grinch, Santa, Cindy Lou Who, or a character of their own creation. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to get creative,” said Bush. “And you never know - our Stroll elves may have a little surprise in store for the standout costumes!”

As you wander through the village, take time to admire the beautifully decorated storefronts and enjoy an old-fashioned carriage ride through the crisp winter air. When noses turn rosy, stop by Alpine Bistro, where hot cocoa and cookies will be waiting for all Stroll-goers.

The evening concludes at the gazebo at 6:00pm with the cherished Living Nativity, performed by local children. Dressed as shepherds and angels, they will retell the story of the very first Christmas. This year’s Holy Family, Alissa and Joseph Steger as Mary and Joseph, with Baby Suzi as Jesus, will be joined by siblings Savannah, Paul, and William. The ECS Chorus will lend their voices to the procession and pageant.

“This pageant is such a meaningful part of the holiday season,” Bush shared. “It really brings the community together and reminds us why we celebrate.”
