Gather at the Gully Brings Youth Theater, Live Music, and Arts to Downtown Springville Aug. 16
A free end-of-summer celebration featuring Singin’ in the Rain Jr., live music, artisan vendors, and family fun in the heart of Springville.
SPRINGVILLE - Springville Center for the Arts (SCA) presents an end-of-summer extravaganza, Gather at the Gully, this Saturday, August 16th from 4:00-9:00pm. This event features youth theater, live music by The Burkharts, outdoor children’s cinema, vendors, kids art activities, pop-up performances, cocktails and mocktails by The Mullet, and wood-fired pizzas by Art’s Cafe. Gather at the Gully will take place in the Municipal Parking Lot behind 49 E Main St., Springville.
The Arts Center’s youth theater program, Lil S.L.A.M (student’s loving arts & music), will perform Singin’ in the Rain Jr. from 5:00-6:00pm at Gather at the Gully. Based on the 1952 movie of the same name, Singin’ In The Rain Jr. takes place in Hollywood during the last days of the silent movie era. The story follows Don Lockwood, one half of the blockbuster celebrity silent movie star “couple” Lockwood and Lamont, and the extreme measures taken when his co-star’s high-pitched and nasal voice threatens the duo’s successful transition into talking pictures. Viewers must bring their own lawn chair or blanket for seating.
At 7:30pm, The Burkharts will bring a dose of sun-soaked nostalgia from the shores of Buffalo to Gather at the Gully. Blending breezy melodies with jangly guitars, their indie surf-pop sound drifts somewhere between a 1960s Californian daydream and modern lo-fi charm. Frontman Trevor pens the tunes while his brother Gavon keeps time on the drums, joined by Austin, Luke, and James to complete the band’s retro-tinged rhythm section. Their latest single, “Always On The Run,” is out now - perfect for late-night drives and golden-hour memories.
Throughout the evening, there will be pop-up performances by our kids summer workshop participants, and an opportunity to shop artisan vendors, create your own Gather at the Gully print, enjoy a handcrafted drink from The Mullet, indulge in a wood-fired pizza from Art’s Cafe, and more!
Gather at the small gully located behind 49 E Main Street (the Mullet) and in the Municipal Parking Lot. Admission is free but donations are essential to support programming done by Springville Center for the Arts. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket for seating. In the event of unexpected rain, visit SpringvilleArts.org for an alternative location.
