ALLEGANY - The holiday season is a time for giving, and the Rogers family has made it truly special for local hospice patients and staff. Ruthann Rogers, along with her daughter Heather Mohawk and Jerry's sister Bonnie Nobles, delivered more than 15 holiday gift baskets for HomeCare & Hospice (HCH) patient families, as well as treats for the HCH staff.

Since Jerry Rogers’ passing in 2021, the Rogers family has honored his memory through annual fundraisers and acts of generosity. Each year, they bring holiday gift baskets to HCH patient families and support causes that were close to Jerry’s heart, including a scholarship in his name at Gowanda Central School, the American Lung Association, and programs for local children in need. Their generosity also enabled a $1,000 donation to the HomeCare & Hospice Foundation this season.

“Jerry loved helping others and bringing joy to those around him,” said Ruthann Rogers. “These holiday baskets are a small way to share his love and spirit with families who need extra support during this time of year. It’s our way of keeping him close in heart while helping our community.”

Jerry Rogers, who passed away in September 2021 after a battle with lung cancer, was known for his humor, generosity, and devotion to family. A longtime resident of Dayton, NY, Jerry spent his life helping others, whether through work, volunteering, or mentoring family and friends. From motorcycle rides and Disney trips with his family to his love of hunting, softball, and pool tournaments, Jerry’s passion for life and service touched everyone he met.

“Families like the Rogerses embody the true spirit of the holidays,” said Melissa Sullivan, CEO of HomeCare & Hospice. “Their dedication to honoring Jerry’s memory through giving reminds us all of the power of community, compassion, and generosity. We are so grateful for their continued support of our patients and staff.”

The holiday gift baskets delivered by the Rogers family not only bring joy to HCH patient families but also ensure that Jerry’s legacy of laughter, love, and helping others continues to make a difference in the community.
