Rotary Club of Ellicottville Honored for Growth, Gives Back with Grants, Scholarships, and New Leadership
From record-setting membership growth to generous community giving, the Rotary Club of Ellicottville celebrates a year of service and success.
ELLICOTTVILLE - The Rotary Club of Ellicottville is proud to announce that it has received District recognition for being the top club in the district with the highest percentage of growth: 200% over 3 years - a growth from 8 to 24 members! We are proud to proclaim that our President, John Weismantel, was acknowledged as a Paul Harris Society Fellow for his lifetime commitment to Rotary International by Foundation Chair of District 5070, Paul Lehman, when he spoke here at a recent meeting.
The Ellicottville Inclusive Playground committee was presented with a $4,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Ellicottville for the continued construction of the much needed project.
Tom Opsahl, after working tirelessly with his committee, determined that three ECS students and one BOCES student were eligible to be awarded $1,000 scholarships based on our mandate, “Service above Self” and a belief that these students will continue this service in the communities in which they will be living in the future. The four recipients are: Adelaide Weber, Addison John, Maddox Johnson and Ava Woodarek. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to each of these achievers.
After a joint dinner held in Olean, new officers for the Rotary Club of Ellicottville were installed for the following fiscal year: President John Weismantel; Lisa Chatham Secretary, Anne Rothrock Treasurer, and Tom Opsahl Sergeant at Arms. Congratulations to our new officers and best wishes for another successful Rotary year.
It is with delight and pride that four new members were recently accepted to join the ranks of the Rotary Club of Ellicottville. They are Penny Martin, Melanie Pritchard, Scott MacDowell, and Ralph Mueller.
The Club always welcomes those who wish to join and find out what Rotary is all about. Members meet the first and third Thursday of every month at 6:00pm at Edna’s at the Tamarack Club at Holiday Valley in the summer and fall months, and in the winter months at Mill Street Sports Pub. Please feel free to stop in and check us out! Everyone is a Rotarian at heart - join the club and make it a visible part of your identity!
