Experience Deep Relaxation Through Gong Sound Healing with Suzy Woo on the Bemus Point Ferry
Ancient sound meets natural serenity during a one-of-a-kind healing session on the water with sound therapist Suzy Woo.
This history of gongs dates back to approximately 3300 BC, discovered in areas now known as Tibet, Burma, China and Viet Nam. They are sacred instruments often referred to as ideophones, meaning the vibration of it alone stimulates our senses to produce visions, pictures, thoughts and ideas beyond our day-to-day mind patterns.
When a gong is played, it emits an array of tones and overtones, with strong vibrations rippling through the air. This gently but powerfully loosens up and jiggles the water in our cells, collectively our organs, muscles, blood flow and our nervous system, washing away stressors and sweeping away toxins. This is why it’s called “sound bath.”
Gongs range in available sizes - the larger the gong, the deeper and longer resonance it provides. The more powerfully you feel the waves of resonance, the more they sweep away any worries or lingering thoughts. This is why even people with the highest stress or who are overthinkers and can’t “get out of their head” are often lulled into deep relaxation in a gong sound bath. It overrides the hyper-thinking part of our mind with relaxation.
Unlike fragile quartz singing bowls, which play one main note, gongs have a complex expression of notes and overtones, also echoing out the symbolism that is inscribed or intended during the making of the instrument, such as sacred geometry.
Yours truly is a sound therapist and energy healer, who shares the healing power of gong sound baths throughout the village of Ellicottville. I have performed locally in outdoor places including the Gazebo, in front of the Purple Doorknob, and outside my office on Martha Street, delighting passers-by. I also often take my sound journeys to locations from Buffalo to Cleveland, including the world-famous Lily Dale Assembly in Cassadaga.
What a combination it is to have these healing sound waves atop actual water waves! Natural bodies of living water emit negative ions - a powerful, healing energy that helps reduce anger, stress, and free radicals, which can eventually contribute to illness. Being on or in the water induces a natural state of relaxation.
On Thursdsay, July 31st, you have the opportunity to enjoy a unique experience as I, Suzy Woo, hosts a gong sound bath on the Bemus Point-Stow Ferry from 6:00-8:00pm. Tickets are $40, with half the proceeds donated to support the Ferry, and each ticket includes a free gift. Spaces are limited. It promises to be a beautiful, freeing, and enjoyable evening.
