Two Giant Thomas Dambo Trolls Coming to Warren County in 2027

Warren County will welcome two massive recycled-material troll sculptures in 2027 as part of a six-troll regional attraction designed to draw visitors and boost local tourism.

WARREN COUNTY, PA - Warren County is going big on tourism. Two internationally recognized troll sculptures by Danish environmental artist Thomas Dambo are coming to Warren County in fall 2027 as part of a larger, six-troll regional installation.

The Warren County project is being managed by the Warren County Chamber of Business & Industry (WCCBI) in partnership with private investors and community partners. Together, the six installations will create a connected regional experience designed to draw visitors to the area, encourage them to explore beyond a single location, and support restaurants, lodging, retail, recreation and other local businesses.

Dambo is known worldwide for creating massive sculptures from reclaimed and recycled materials, transforming what others might consider trash into imaginative works of art. Using discarded wood and other locally sourced materials, his work demonstrates the possibilities that can emerge when materials are reused rather than thrown away. His larger-than-life trolls combine art, storytelling and environmental awareness, often inviting visitors to explore natural spaces while seeing discarded materials in an entirely different way.

His installations have become tourism destinations around the world, attracting visitors who travel specifically to find the sculptures, experience the stories surrounding them, and explore the communities where they are located.

“We are working as a region to create a unique tourism attraction that people will travel to see,” said Antoinetta Lindell, President & CEO of the Warren County Chamber of Business & Industry. “Being part of a six-troll regional installation gives us an opportunity to attract visitors from well beyond Warren County while ensuring that Warren County is an important part of their experience. Our goal is to bring those visitors here, encourage them to stay longer, and introduce them to everything our communities have to offer.”

The project is expected to generate new visitor spending and provide a significant economic benefit to Warren County. In addition to direct spending at local businesses, the trolls will create opportunities for media coverage, social media engagement and destination marketing that will introduce Warren County to new audiences.

PRIVATELY FUNDED - WITH AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYONE TO PARTICIPATE

The Warren County installations are being made possible through private funding and philanthropic investment. WCCBI recognizes the early leadership of Whirley-DrinkWorks!, the Richard T. Betts Family Foundation, and the Defrees Family Memorial Fund, whose financial commitments helped make it possible for Warren County to move the project forward.

“We are incredibly grateful to the organizations and families who saw the potential of this project early and were willing to invest in the vision,” said Jenny Phillips, Marketing Director, Warren Worx/WCCBI. “Their support gave us the ability to move from an idea to a project that will create a lasting tourism asset for Warren County.”

A public donation opportunity will also be available to individuals, families, businesses, and organizations that want to help bring the trolls to Warren County. Contributions will be voluntary and will help support the project and its 10-year installation. Every contribution, regardless of size, allows community members to say, “I was part of bringing these trolls to Warren County.” Details about the public donation campaign and opportunities for recognition will be announced as the project moves forward.

“This is a tremendous example of private investment in Warren County’s future,” said Lindell. “We are grateful to those who are making this project possible and excited to allow the broader community to be part of something that will be here for at least the next 10 years.”

The two Warren County trolls are scheduled for installation in late 2027 as part of the six-troll regional installation. Additional information about the Warren County trolls and donation opportunities will be announced in the coming months.
