Bigfoot Park Golf Hosts 2nd Annual Sasquatch Cup in Ellicottville

Park golf meets community spirit as Bigfoot Park Golf tees up its second annual Sasquatch Cup with competition, charity, and a one-of-a-kind trophy.

Bigfoot Park Golf in Ellicottville is swinging back into action with its second annual Sasquatch Cup, set for Saturday, September 20th. The tournament, which kicks off with flights between 11:00am and 2:00pm, promises a full day of competitive park golf, community fun, and support for a great cause.

For those who haven’t yet discovered it, park golf is a fast-growing sport that combines the simplicity of mini golf with the strategy of traditional golf. Played with just one club and a ball slightly larger than a golf ball, the game is easy to learn, fun for all ages, and perfect for casual or competitive play.

Located at 5462 Robbins Road (just 5 minutes from Ellicottville’s village center), Bigfoot Park Golf has become a unique destination for both locals and visitors, offering a fresh and fun way to enjoy the outdoors. Plus, it’s located next to the Ellicottville Distillery, giving “play and sip” a whole new twist.

This year’s Sasquatch Cup format is straightforward but exciting: it’s an individual competition, with players paired into flights of four. The $50 entry fee covers two 18-hole rounds of park golf, and participants who register early can enjoy $10 practice rounds all day long. Skins, a hole-in-one challenge, and a progressive cash prize - starting at $300 and growing with participation - will keep the stakes high.

The tournament isn’t just about competition. Proceeds will go toward the Sam Huffman Benefit, set to take place the following week at Holiday Valley’s Tannenbaum Lodge. Sam is bravely battling stage 4 melanoma, and the community is rallying to help cover his mounting medical and travel expenses. The fundraiser promises an afternoon filled with love, support, raffles, and laughter - all coming together for Sam, just as he has been there for others.

Food and refreshments will round out the day, with pizza and soft drinks for participants, and beer and cocktails available for purchase at the Ellicottville Distillery Tasting Room located right on the grounds.

One highlight this year is the upgraded trophy, designed and created by Debbie and Vern McMillen of BLUECLOVER CREAT3D. “Last year, my vision for the trophy didn’t quite work out, so I ended up building one myself,” said Bigfoot Park Golf owner Chad Neal. “This year, thanks to Debbie and Vern, the trophy is exactly what I had in mind - it’s something players will really want to take home.”

For Neal, the Sasquatch Cup is more than just a tournament. It represents the heart of his business and the spirit of community. “This was the first tournament we ever hosted, during my first year in business,” Neal said. “Brainstorming with my sons, Elliott and Grayson, we came up with the name and idea. Plus, helping out any local charity or benefit gives us a warm feeling in our hearts. It means a lot to keep it going - not only because it’s fun, but because we get to give back to local causes.”

Bigfoot Park Golf plans to keep the fun rolling all season long, typically staying open through late October, weather permitting. Beyond the Sasquatch Cup, Neal hints at new events on the horizon, including glow-in-the-dark night golf and a Family Scramble next summer. Hole sponsorships are still available for any business interested in supporting the park, and includes the business logo on display at a designated hole on the course.

For now, all eyes are on September 20th. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a newcomer curious about park golf, the Sasquatch Cup is your chance to swing big, chase down bragging rights, and maybe even take home that one-of-a-kind trophy.
