Build Your Own Rain Barrel Workshop Coming to Ellicottville This June

Participants will construct a take-home rain barrel while learning practical ways to conserve water, reduce runoff, and create a more sustainable landscape.

ELLICOTTVILLE - Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County and Cattaraugus Soil and Water Conservation District invite you to discover the many benefits of installing a rain barrel on your property! Join them for a Build Your Own Rain Barrel workshop. This hands-on workshop is led by CCE Cattaraugus Climate Stewards and Cattaraugus Soil and Water. The interactive event will give participants the opportunity to learn about water conservation and stormwater management, while building your very own rain barrel to take home.

Whether you’re looking to conserve water, reduce stormwater runoff, or provide a sustainable source of water for your lawn and garden, a rain barrel can make a meaningful difference. During the workshop, participants will:

  • Construct their own rain barrel

  • Learn about stormwater management and best practices for homeowners

  • Explore the anatomy of a rain barrel

  • Review maintenance tips

  • Receive guidance on properly connecting a barrel to a downspout

Registration is NOW open. Don’t miss this opportunity to embrace sustainability and enhance your property’s environmental impact. This workshop is open to all interested individuals and will take place on June 12 from 4:30-6:30pm at 28 Parkside Dr., Ellicottville, NY. Cost is $75 and can be paid by cash or check made payable to CCE-Cattaraugus, in advance or at the event.
