Ellicottville Distillery gears up for a topless Jeep celebration for breast cancer
Down at Ellicottville Distillery, owners Bryan and Renee Scharf love a good pun. In my mind, it’s Bryan who concocts the names and goofy themes for events at the distillery… because come on, KenDucky Derby, where guests race rubber ducks down the creek on the day of the Kentucky Derby, or Punkin’ Chunkin’, which involves slingshotting pumpkins across the property? Absolutely reeks of a dad joke.
Whoever is responsible for these phenomenal themes certainly outdid themself with this Saturday’s event at the distillery - Go Topless Day on May 17th, which raises money for breast cancer research. No, they don’t mean your top; they mean the top of your Jeep Wrangler! The distillery encourages Jeep owners to take the top off, celebrate the beginning of summer, and support something awesome.
“We have an old Jeep that sits outside of the distillery, and we did the event a few years ago and had a great turnout and tons of fun. We thought we would try doing it again,” said Renee Scharf, who co-owns the distillery with her husband, Bryan. “We’re going topless for tatas - that’s what they say!” she added.
Proceeds from Go Topless Day will go toward the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, one of the highest-rated nonprofits for breast cancer research in the world. “For any kind of research, anything that has anything to do with fighting breast cancer, that’s what we’re going for,” said Renee.
As for what guests can expect, Ellicottville Distillery just dropped its summer 2025 cocktail menu. A popular option from there is the “Sweet Heat” featuring Distillery original bourbon paired with jalapeño syrup, mint, lemon, and watermelon. Enjoy this and other drink specials on event day.
From 3:00-6:00pm, Travis Happoldt will be performing with his guitar for some guaranteed jams and good vibes, as well as the K & B Foods food truck providing other refreshments.
If you’re feeling competitive, Ellicottville’s newest outdoor golfing experience, Bigfoot Park Golf, is onsite and will be open during the Go Topless Jeep event. Park golf is a Japanese sport similar to our mini golf, designed to be an easy, fun, all-ages activity, often themed. “The Bigfoot-themed course at Ellicottville Distillery is about a year old and tons of fun,” said Renee. For now, the course is only open during the weekends, but when June rolls around the course will be open every day.
Ellicottville Distillery has a summer of fun ahead, so don’t fret if you can’t make it this Saturday. Starting Father’s day, the distillery will feature live music every Sunday from 2:00-5:00 pm. Come June 22nd, they’ll showcase their Classic Car Show, a benefit for Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. Make sure your hot rod is waxed and ready because trophies will be awarded to the best of the best. The Chillbillys will play from 2:00-5:00 pm. And following that, the distillery will host a fireworks celebration on July 3rd. Guests can expect live music with Noah Lee & The Stetsons from 7:00-10:00pm.
Summer fun is kicking off at Ellicottville Distillery, and it all starts with you and a topless… Jeep! More information on their Go Topless Jeep event and other happenings at the distillery can be found at ellicottvilledistillery.com.
