SPRINGVILLE - Appalachian roots trio, Vandalia, will be at Art’s Cafe in Springville on October 3rd for a night of nuanced, traditional acoustic music. The trio creates a version of string music you can tap your foot to, and has been described as “some of the best that’s out there” (Ian Zoliter, The Folk Show).
Each musician brings their own unique talents to the group. Fiddle player, Dakota Karper, is steeped in the fiddling tradition of West Virginia where she was born and raised. She was an apprentice of master fiddler Joe Herrmann, refining her love for Appalachian string music. Cellist Ellen Gira, has made a reputation for herself as one of the most versatile cellists in the traditional world. Ellen also tours with a duo group consisting of herself and Jocelyn Pettit that won “Traditional Album of the Year” at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2024. Gabriel is known for his front-of-the-beat rhythmic guitar playing that could be found at countless square dances, bluegrass festivals and jazz clubs in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. He is known for his ability to seamlessly weave in and out of acoustic music genres.
Vandalia will be at Art’s Cafe on Friday, October 3rd at 7:00pm. Art’s Cafe is located at 5 East Main Street, Springville NY. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. To purchase, visit SpringvilleArts.org or call the box office at 716-592-9038.
