Ellicottville Historical Society September Meeting & Upcoming Ghost Walks

From presidential history to spooky local tales, the Ellicottville Historical Society invites the community to explore the past with its September meeting and fall Ghost Walk series.

ELLICOTTVILLE - The Ellicottville Historical Society will meet on Wednesday, September 3rd at 7:00pm. Please note that the speaker for this month has changed. The new speaker will be Ellen Frank, Town Historian, and she will present “Behind the Scenes at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, IL.” The meeting will take place at the Ellicottville Memorial Library, 6499 Maples Rd. and is open to the public free of charge. A short business meeting will precede.

A reminder that the Ellicottville Museum is open every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm. We have great volunteers who would like to show you around our museum. This past weekend the volunteers had a group of people from Italy.

The Ellicottville Historical Society will also be hosting Ghost Walks around Ellicottville, guided by Ellen Frank on Friday nights in September and October. The first ghost walk will take place Friday September 26th, and will continue October 3rd, 17th, and 24th. A special ghost walk will be held on October 31st by reservation only and is limited to 15 people. The cost for all walks is $15.00 per person, cash or check only.

Ghost Walk participants should meet at the Ellicottville Gazebo at 7:00pm; the walk will begin at 7:30pm. We will go into the United Church of Ellicottville and the Ellicottville Museum. Then we will walk to Jefferson Street Cemetery and visit a few graves.

This is a walk at your own risk, and you may want to bring a flashlight or use your phone when walking through the cemetery. If you would like to learn more or sign up your party ahead of time, please contact Ellen Frank at 716-474-8528 or 716-699-2276.
