Magro Speech Therapy Hosts 3rd Annual Inclusive Trick-or-Treat at St. Bonaventure University

An accessible, sensory-friendly Halloween event that celebrates inclusion, empathy, and community partnership.

OLEAN - Magro Speech Therapy is excited to announce the return of its 3rd annual Inclusive Trick or Treat event, a community Halloween event designed to ensure that children with disabilities and special needs can fully participate in the fun and festivities. The event will be held on Sunday, October 26th from 12:00–2:00pm at the Richter Center on the St. Bonaventure University campus. Admission is free, with advance registration required online (www.magrospeectherapy.com).

This one-of-a-kind event transforms traditional trick-or-treating into a safe, sensory-friendly, and fully accessible experience. Families can expect adapted trick-or-treat stations, thoughtful sensory supports, and accommodations for children with different needs and abilities - all designed so that every child feels comfortable, included, and a sense of belonging.

The Inclusive Trick or Treat is part of Magro Speech Therapy’s broader mission to create opportunities for children of all abilities to connect, play, and thrive.

“Too often, children with disabilities don’t get the chance to participate in events or activities like trick-or-treating,” said Marissa Magro, owner of Magro Speech Therapy. “As a community, we have a responsibility to change that by becoming more aware, more understanding, and more accommodating to people who have different needs than ourselves. Every person deserves the chance to be included and have the ability to participate in a way that is meaningful to them.”

EDUCATING THE NEXT GENERATION

A hallmark of the event is its ongoing partnership with St. Bonaventure University’s School of Business, where students play an active role in event planning and implementation. Students from disciplines including business, education, speech-language pathology, and occupational therapy help design activities, coordinate logistics, and ensure accessibility.

“This partnership makes our events about something so much bigger than a fun afternoon,” Magro explained. “It has become about educating future professionals and members of our community to carry forward understanding, acceptance, and inclusion into their careers and adulthood. We are helping shape a future where empathy and accessibility are the standard, not the exception.”
