Ellicottville Fire Hall Proposes Major Renovations to Improve Safety and Expand Emergency Services
A comprehensive renovation plan aims to enhance firefighter safety, expand emergency response capacity, and address long-standing structural issues at the Ellicottville Fire Hall.
ELLICOTTVILLE - On Wednesday, November 19th, the Ellicottville Fire Commission held a public meeting at the Ellicottville Fire Hall to provide information on the proposed changes coming to the Fire Hall.
One highlight of the project, as presented at the meeting, includes an exterior makeover that will stop the water intrusion which has plagued the building since its original construction in 1996. This involves a new roof system, composite siding, and new overhead truck bay doors. The other major renovation item proposed includes two new dedicated ambulance bays for our ambulance and fly care.
Most importantly, the building will receive new safety elements. These include decontamination space for returning firefighters, a dedicated area for turnout gear, and a fitness room. Also included are ADA-compliant restrooms complete with shower facilities.
As our community continues to grow and prosper, it is essential that our first responders are given every available resource to make sure they are safe, along with keeping our equipment in top working order and protected from the elements. This new and improved space will make the challenging task of recruiting and maintaining a healthy volunteer workforce that much easier.
These hardworking men and women are all volunteers with full-time jobs, and they deserve the very best facility we can give them. If anyone has any additional questions or comments or would simply like more information, please reach out to the Fire Commission Chairman at timkeymp@gmail.com.
