The Ellicottville office of UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine has new patient hours to handle any urgent care issues related to spring and summer activities.

On April 30th, the Nannen Arboretum Society, Inc. plans to host activities celebrating Arbor Day. There will be an Arbor Day Proclamation from the Village of Ellicottville, and recognition of our Tree City USA status. 

For every doctor’s visit, Trenton Pierce had to be helped inside his family’s car by his parents and a manual lifting-sling for a two-hour drive to Rochester. Today, Trenton is able to safely travel for his medical needs in a van that accommodates his wheelchair.

As I write this article overlooking Sugarloaf Mountain in Carrabassett Valley, Maine, the drive out here gave me time to reflect on the communities I passed. Now, you’re probably wondering, “Caitlin, what does this have to do with Planning in Ellicottville?”

Despite a winter season without fundraising events, Holiday Valley made substantial donations to area youth programs and the Ellicottville Alley Katz on April 7th.

For more than 30 years, the month of April has been dedicated to autism awareness. In recent years, many organizations have recognized April as Autism Acceptance Month, a shift that Ellicottville Central School special education teacher Kristin Rocco has incorporated in her own classroom.

The March meeting of the Ellicottville Village Board opened with two pieces of good news. Two checks were received: the first is a refund check from Workers Compensation; The second, from the Cattaraugus County sales tax distribution.

Kristen Hintz was a senior at Ellicottville Central School when her life was tragically cut short by an automobile accident in 2000. Her memory lives on through a scholarship to help send Ellicottville graduates on to college.

The Wolfinger Family Fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation is making possible $2,000 in support for the Ellicottville, Smethport (PA) and Coudersport (PA) school districts.

Students from the CA BOCES CTE Center at Ellicottville Power Equipment Technology program recently received a day of advanced heavy equipment electrical training.

At the beginning of October 2020, the family of Trenton Pierce of Great Valley organized a donation drive with the goal of raising funds to purchase an all-accessible mobile home, which will accommodate Trenton’s needs — who is diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

The Rotary Club of Ellicottville’s Tuscan Moon – Gourmet Cocktail Party is returning in 2021! The fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday, August 28th at 6:00pm at John Harvard’s Cabana Bar & Pool Complex at Holiday Valley.
