Autumn. The third in our cycle of four seasons and, arguably, the most beautiful.  What better place to admire up close the trees at this time of year than at the Nannen Arboretum?

The Rotary Club of Ellicottville has decided to cancel this year’s Kids Halloween Party due to health concerns regarding Covid-19. However, the Rotary looks forward to hosting family friendly events in the future.

On select Fridays in September and October, the public is invited to join in one of five Ellicottville’s Paranormal Walks and hear the haunted tales of Ellicottville, as well as stories from the archive of first-hand accounts from past ghost hunts.

As August gives way to September, most local 17-year-olds are gearing up for their final year of high school, a year devoted to last hurrahs, fun with friends, and college plans. Ellicottville native Callie Rounds is not like most 17-year-olds, however.

For its fifth year running, spanning over a three-day period across two venues, athletes of all skill levels and ages will huddle up in Ellicottville for the 2021 Lacrosse Festival.

Music. Classic cars. Great food. Put them all together and you get your chance to close out summer in style at Ellicottville’s Rock N’ Roll Weekend.

Edna Northrup passed away on September 8, 2021. She died surrounded by family at her home on the Pengilly Hill Farm in Ellicottville, NY. Visitation will be at the Yodeler Lodge at Holiday Valley on Friday, September 10th and Saturday, September 11th.

Ellicottville is proud to be a Tree City USA, which means we inventory and curate our beloved Village trees. A few were removed on Thursday morning that were overgrown and/or diseased. Some will just get a haircut.

Holiday Valley was recently recognized by two local publications with two prominent awards. Buffalo Spree named Holiday Valley the winner of its reader-voted Best Family Fun (winter) award. And the Buffalo News voters gave the resort the Best of 716 Best Ski Resort in WNY.

Ellicottville Central Superintendent Bob Miller sat down with ellicottvilleNOW to discuss the school’s reopening plans and updates on the school’s capital project, including the school’s plan to operate 5 days a week for all students, and a more “normal” pattern for fall sports.

They can hurt, they can heal, they bring us honey and they help bring forth fruits and flowers into this abundant world we live in. Everything that honey bees do benefit something else. Even their stings hold medicinal benefits for those that are not allergic.

Advocates of the proposed Ellicottville Skatepark are excited to announce a major grant that puts the project within reach of its goal. The Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association has awarded $100,000 to the Ellicottville project.

Holiday Valley hosted the 18th annual Ellicottville Library Pro Am on August 9th with a field of 84 players competing, including 21 WNY PGA Pros and 63 local amateurs. The players enjoyed a beautiful day and the Library appreciates the great support. 

A move to repopulate Ellicottville with full-time residents is becoming a key issue in the discussions surrounding the Downtown Revitalization Initiative project.
