The Ellicottville Town Board wasted no time getting organized for the New Year when they met on Jan. 5th in a telephone session, to make routine appointments for public offices and determine policy matters.

Kicking off the 2022 season, a 2010 Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical about family and the impact of mental illness is coming to the Ray Evans Seneca Theater January 7-9th & 14-16th.

We all thought 2021 was going to be our year. It has certainly proven to be another deeply challenging one, if you want to look at it that way. Or perhaps we should look at the flip side, & realize how far we’ve come. 

A new year is nearly upon us, and fans of Ellicottville find themselves focused on thoughts of colder days filled with lake effect snowstorms, freshly groomed corduroy and making turns with family and friends. 

Welcome in the new year with a First Day Hike at the Kinzua Bridge State Park, and then keep the fun going hiking or cross-country skiing on the Kinzua Valley Rail Trail in Westline, Pennsylvania.

The Ellicottville volunteer crew picked up the last of the donations, filling a 26-foot box truck, and hit the road to Kentucky in the early hours of Dec. 23rd to help make Christmas a little brighter for victims of the recent tornadoes.

The Ellicottville Town Board, meeting for its monthly session Dec. 15th by telephone hookup, has scheduled a public hearing on a proposed agreement for cable services from Spectrum Northeast LLC. 

The installation banquet for the Ellicottville Fire Department was held Saturday, Dec. 11th. The new 2022 officers were sworn in and the EFD also recognized 15 of their top responders.

This year’s Christmas in Ellicottville Breakfast with Santa raised donations for the Ellicottville Food Pantry in the form of non-perishable food items and $783 in cash donations.

Every year, Cattaraugus County Sheriff deputies flood the aisles of Walmart and local stores with the mission of bringing gifts and Christmas joy to needy area families. This year the program will support 71 children from 22 families.

The Virtual Auction held online last Friday Dec. 17th night was certainly a great time for all that participated.  Bob’s presence was obvious to all for Bob McCarthy’s 16th annual Irish Christmas. 

It started with a Facebook post.  J.P. O’Connell saw a photo of a man whose family lost everything in the recent tornadoes that ripped through Kentucky. 

Who says you can’t open a business in the middle of a global pandemic? Certainly not Gabby Iuculano, who not only started her own business in Lakewood, but also opened a second location in Ellicottville this fall!
